QuantumFracture

QuantumFracture is the science channel of José Luis Crespo, a physicist by training, devoted to explaining physics, cosmology and how the Universe works, in Spanish. Its usual terrain is the ground that most resists intuition: relativity, quantum mechanics, black holes, the large-scale structure of the cosmos, and the limit questions about how things began and how they will end. The channel rests on a conviction that is at once simple and demanding: a result in fundamental physics can be told to anyone without falsifying it, provided enough time is spent building the right intuition before stating the conclusion. Its most recognisable feature is animation. Each piece is illustrated with sequences built for the specific argument being developed rather than with stock footage: the animation is not decoration around the explanation, it is the explanation. That work makes it possible to show what no camera can film, such as the curvature of spacetime or the behaviour of a particle, and to sustain visual analogies the viewer can follow step by step. The tone is enthusiastic and humorous, deliberately far from academic solemnity, but the rigour of the content is never up for negotiation. Alongside the great themes of physics, the channel also attends to science as it breaks into the news, and in those cases it keeps the same method: explain the mechanism before offering an opinion on its consequences.
