Monsieur Phi

Monsieur Phi is a French-language philosophy channel run by a doctor of philosophy who has made public explanation a sustained occupation. The project is funded chiefly by its viewers, and that shows in the result: videos last as long as they need to, not as long as an advertising format requires. The channel works on two fronts that keep intersecting. On one side, philosophy in the classical sense: the life and final days of Giordano Bruno across several instalments, Epicurus, a medieval philosophical duel, scepticism understood as a method rather than a posture, and the old question of the soul taken head on. On the other, artificial intelligence, which occupies a central rather than incidental place here: the autonomy of these systems, how to speak precisely about something called intelligence, mathematicians' unease about the future of their discipline, and close analysis of public statements on AI that do not survive careful scrutiny. The method is recognisable. Begin with a question that looks simple, expose the traps in the usual framing, draw the distinctions that need drawing, and arrive at a conclusion that is rarely the expected one. Thought experiments and paradoxes appear not as curiosities but as instruments for thinking. When the channel criticises someone else's claim, it first states the argument as faithfully as it can and only then shows where it breaks. Visitors will find demanding videos that require no prior training, yet never pretend that hard questions are easy.
