Buddhist Society of Western Australia
This channel holds the dharma talks recorded by the Buddhist Society of Western Australia at the Dhammaloka Buddhist Centre in Perth. The monks who teach belong to the sangha at Bodhinyana Monastery in Serpentine, the nuns to Dhammasara in Gidgegannup; among those appearing regularly are Ajahn Brahm, Ajahn Hasapanna, Ajahn Nibbuto, Ajahn Sampasadana, Ajahn Mudito, Ajahn Pasada, Venerable Canda and Venerable Radha. The material is, in large part, an archive of a monastic community teaching in the open. There is the Friday night guided meditation, week after week, with different teachers. There is the Boundless meditation group, with talks on concrete matters of practice and of living together: building a good culture, right intention, dispelling darkness, the feeling of coming home. And there are the sutta discussions, in which a text from the canon is read and unhurriedly commented upon. There is no elaborate production and no concession to format: these are recordings of what actually happened in the hall, at their real length and real pace. What a newcomer finds is practicable meditation instruction, Theravada Buddhist teaching set out in plain English and with humour, and the possibility of following a practice continuously from anywhere in the world, at no cost and without needing to belong to anything. The archive is published with the date of each session, so it can be followed week by week or searched for a particular talk on a particular subject.
