Another cracker, number 3 to be precise, from W. H. Hodgson featuring the laconic supernatural detective Carnacki who responds to the summons of worried manor house owners throughout the realm. Today Carnacki is helping out a friend near a village in the west of Ireland. In this episode look out for my famous wandering accent which starts out somewhere south of Dublin, and subsequently drifts up to Belfast via Chennai. I put it to you, faithful listeners and subscribers, that AI cannot and never will achieve that effect - the itinerant accent, or as the fairground barkers of old used to shout: 'where she stops nobody knows!' This story is actually rather a good one with a few twists and turns. If you are of a sentimental nature about animals in particular, a dog does come to a bit of a grisly end. I am rather enjoying the series and like the fact that it all happens in Carnacki's drawing room after his largely silent guests have had a free dinner, and so what if he's a total fantasist and invents every detail?
